One of the first settlers in Roscoe (then called Vista) was rancher-wheat grower W.J. Turner, who purchased a cemetery site for burial of his brother-in-law, Joe Cleckler, about 1887. Next interments were infants, Frank E. Spires, in 1892, and Ethel Lena Turner, in 1894. Other early graves are unidentified.
